The Gentlemen’s Cut: Alma’s Advice
“I wish that I lived during the time period when women wore long dresses and men dressed like Dapper Dans.
Fashion has always been an integral way for men and women to express their personalities. This year, it is refreshing to note that young men are respecting style and putting more emphasis on how they present themselves. Our fashion choices reflect our personalities. Some people have common sense, others have fashion sense, but ideally, we should strive to have both. The combination of the two can produce a very smart man, in every sense. Guys, it’s time to raise the bar!
Currently, I am blown away by the beautifully put together gentlemen I see in the salon and on the street. I can’t help but turn my head to admire and appreciate the view. I am dedicating this blog to all the fine, handsome men that make my day and inspire me.
There is a plethora of inspiration all around us, all you have to do is open your eyes and look. Old movies are an excellent source for timeless, classic looks. We love Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and GQ Magazine. Don’t feel like watching any TV? Just Google pictures of George Clooney! He never disappoints.
Attention to detail is a crucial component of style. Whether you like wearing kicks or loafers, casual or dress shoes, always make sure your shoes compliment your attire and are polished and clean. And please, add some tailored shirts and jackets to your wardrobe!
Remember, your hair is a fashion statement, every bit as important as your ensemble. Your hair literally “tops off” your outfit, so make sure you are rocking the right hairstyle (come to my salon and I will see to it!) Also, SMELLING GOOD is key. Choose a subtle and seductive cologne. You’ll know you are wearing the right scent when the ladies can’t stay away! Finally, to pull it all together, never shy away from a MANicure, pedicure or facial. These parts of our bodies reveal a great deal about our hygiene and self respect, so never neglect them!
XO,
Alma”
